Building This Thing.....
Pop ups begging you to sign up for a newsletter. Invitations to "Like" this page on Facebook twitter or whatever. When I was building this thing, i had an epiphany: those weren't irritations- those were choices. Somebody, at sometime, somehow actually thought what a good idea it would be for a visitor trying to leave a site to instead get a pop-up request to sign up for a newsletter. Many someones, in fact. Just as many someones all over the internet see nothing wrong in leading you to a site or even a page with no content.
Obviously, I'm cheating a bit, including a 'starter kit' of posts that are older than this site, but I figure that if it's relevant to how I paint and how I see, it's better than there being no there there, even if it was written a few years ago. Because I don't care that you've dressed it up with a cute little emoji of a bulldozer and a 'page under construction' note- an empty link is a waste of time. If your website isn't ready for prime time, don't tease.
When I talked about building a website for my paintings, a friend suggested that I should also have a space featuring my photography, so my intent is to use this blog page as that space. We'll see how it works.
Oh- and here's a picture of a bulldozer, if it makes you happy:
